Interim executive housing director Duggins eagerly welcomes student nurses to Riverview Tower.

I never said Jeff Gahan's left-hand man had any idea what nursing means, although in precisely two years from today, we can rectify this.

NAHA hopes program to educate residents, too

NEW ALBANY — The unused top floor of Riverview Tower, a New Albany Housing Authority complex, will be converted to a learning space for Indiana University Southeast public nursing students.

Skyview Collaboratory and Wellness Center will host patient simulation rooms with two-way mirrors, where Housing Authority residents and potentially IUS theater students could get paid to role play as patients.

Judy Myers, IUS Public Health Nursing Program coordinator, believes this kind of collaboration with the Housing Authority is unique in the United States.

Public health nursing focuses on preventative health care in at-risk populations, often through visits in patients' homes.
