1 - City council meeting tweeted as it happened, October 1.

For many years I wrote council notes by hand, and then recopied them into a word processing program. Eventually the laptop was brought along to the meeting, and notes typed directly. Last night my notes were tweeted live, and so here they are. The agenda is here for comparing items to notes. Begin at the bottom, and scroll up.

Benedetti removes Coffey from UEA board. She asks for volunteers. None. Coffey decries UEA politicization. Benedetti: "He's not showing up."
Z-12-18 1st and 2nd readings both unanimous in favor.
YOU GOT THAT RIGHT. If we don't leave soon, the liquor stores will be closed, and then what?
Blair and Phipps agreed that not only is insurance improper, so is pay. KZ had a point, but too eager to tout his work ethic.
Z-12-18 We now must regulate the coming pain management clinic proliferation.
G-12-22 Now, after a COBRA chat, the copperhead Coffey wants a new ordinance. But 2nd reading goes on: Same results.
G-12-22 1st reading: 5 yes, 3 no (Baird, Benedetti, Caesar) and KZ abstaining.
G-12-22 In essence, KZ says: "Insurance costs are less relevant than me being viewed as a full time CM when my mayoral race comes around."
G-12-22 Blair doesn't want $. Baird says she works 2 full-time jobs. Phipps says as a university employee, he cannot work 2 full time jobs.
G-12-22 KZ resents being termed part-time. He works like Mitt Romney, non-stop. "Lone Republican" KZ spends more time than you, jack.
G-12-22 Phipps: Part time council shouldn't get what workers cannot. Amend to reflect purchase option? KZ worries that council is full time.
G-12-22 Rescind/Abolish Health Care for Part Time Elected Officials. Gonder wants purchase option for elected and other workers.
G-12-21 Dees and Rs and Eyes. Coffey wants to guarantee rights of all parties to serve on "all boards." No litmus tests. 1st and 2nd aye 9-0
A-12-27 Police, fire, etc salaries. Unanimous approval on 1st and 2nd.
A-12-24,25,26 ... all pass first two readings, 7-2 votes. KZ and Armageddi -- they got a no thang goin' on, bitches.
I'm going into power saving mode. Juice running low. Will be back in a bit. Will tweet if a fight breaks out.
A-12-22 Medical Drug Fund ordinance passes 1st and 2nd by 5-4 votes.
CeeSaw's vote for money to enable his own elitist Bicentennial Junta should not be forgotten. How much $ has his backroom dealing cost us?
Once A-12-21 was done, all Histo-Pres and Bi-Junta folks cleared out. Deserted now.
I'll guess Mrs Baird. That way, the historic preservation/bicen junta folks will continue letting her sit at the big kids' table.
A-12-21 Vote on 1st: 7-2 yes, Phipps and Blair dissenting. 7-2 on 2nd, same ones opposed.
A-12-21 Gonder's really FOR this one. Ordinance is a challenge grant, he says. Vote 1st and 2nd tonight, as is. Easement before 3rd.
A-12-21 Coffey asks Sekula when Landmarks will begin putting the same skin into preservation funding as the city council. Chilling.
A-12-21 Reverend concedes numerous upkeep issues. Sekula says Finn says this must be a community based project! Thus spake Horseshoe!
A-12-21 NA Bicentennial matryoshka doll: Emery Ice Cream nested in 8th & Culbertson nested in 2nd Baptist.
Phipps said exactly that. Gonder feels that is too "intrusive."
Coffey points out that clock tower and steeple perhaps differ. Clock tower first, steeple next. GAVEL Sekula resumes.
A-12-21 Benedetti gets Philistine. Baird isn't worried that it's a church. Sekula: Landmarks is vital, and a slew of mover shakers agree.
A-12-21 $ to restore 2nd Baptist Clock Tower. Discussion. Phipps voices church-state concerns; easements must be included. Gonder dislikes.
A-12-20 Amendments approved. Coffey abstains, KZ against. 2nd reading: 8-1, KZ against. Sans principle, Caesar votes for own Junta money.
A-12-20 Caesar votes for money to his own Junta in a 6-3 vote in favor, 1st reading. McL, Blair, KZ against. Previous amendments now added.
A-12-20 KZ now reverses field and says the council should not micromanage. Shelle now screaming at Coffey. FIGHT Armageddi now yells too.
A-12-20 Blessed Caesar silence as Coffey gets his jaws around the Junta's elitist leg. Vic Meginnity: Shall we give away Bicen coins? YES.
A-12-20 Shelle, who said she would not comment, is now speaking and losing composure.
A-12-20 Coffey: "We just got this tonight!" Gonder: Feeling that the council wants to help select elite vs commoner events.
A-12-20 "Break even" for most events if "we lower the prices." Phipps speaks of "elite" events vs more communal things, i.e. coloring books.
A-12-20 Shelle says she cannot speak for all Junta members in attendance (why): "Why are we on different sides here?" Baird "mediates."
A-12-20 KZ is not comfortable with this funding, because certain taxpayers will be excluded from events. Shelle is tired of fighting!
A-12-20 Phipps wants to make sure profits (?) come back. Wants $ spent to be after full Bicen Junta vote. Seed money, says Phipps.
A-12-20 Bicentennial handout ... Blair wants to see financials. Ask for tabling. Mrs Baird, lapdog, says time is of the essence!
Haven House $25k resolution: Unanimous in favor, absent rancor.
Barb Anderson says Haven House is faith-based, but not in a religious sense - faith needed to make a go of it.
Seems like old times, dinner dates & flowers/Just like old times, staying up for hours ... we only need Kochert package gazing.

Councilman John Gonder said city failed to follow its own guidelines when removing trees for Bicentennial Park last week.
