Gloria Allred's "Fight Back and Win," at Culbertson West this Thursday, March 9.

The following is reprinted from the web site of Destinations Booksellers. The New Albanian Brewing Company is an event sponsor, Mr. and Mrs. Confidential will be in attendance, and we suspect that transgendered money muddle advocate Erik/Erika will not.

----

Gloria Allred, one of the most prominent lawyers in the world and a champion of women and children, comes to New Albany on Thursday, March 9, as part of her national tour to promote her first book, Fight Back and Win.

A ticketed reception for Ms. Allred begins at 6 p.m. at Culbertson West, 904 East Main Street in New Albany. This event is to benefit CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), the volunteer organization that guards the interests of children in our courts system. Attendees will enjoy drinks and hors d'ouvres and have the opportunity to meet the author. In addition, each attendee will receive a copy of the book and be put at the front of the line for the book signing that follows. Tickets are $45 per person, with a portion going to benefit CASA. Call the store to reserve space.

At 7 p.m., we'll move to the events hall for a talk by the author. Ms. Allred will take questions from the audience and sign copies of her book following the talk. This event is free and open to the public.

This is a watershed moment for our store and for downtown New Albany and is our first major author appearance. Call the store for more information.

Our thanks go out to LEO (Louisville Eccentric Observer) as the presenting sponsor and to title sponsors that include Constituency for Progress; the Women's Foundation of Southern Indiana; the Department of Women and Gender Studies at IU Southeast, Christa Zorn, chairperson; Culbertson West; The New Albanian Brewing Company; and the City of New Albany, James E. Garner, Sr., Mayor.
