It's all about "public safety first" -- unless it's a one-way street, of course!

And then we're utterly powerless and chock full of cowardice.

It's the first time in months that Mayor Gahan has shown any interest in downtown ... and it's a demolition. That speaks volumes, even if he doesn't.

When the city announces this latest redevelopment triumph, will there be the requisite exclamation mark?

... “We want to be respectful of the structures we have, but at the same time, we have to put public safety first,” (David Brewer) said.

I think that the article is best when read out of order:

"Brewer said the building — which is located near S. Ellen Jones Elementary School — needs a lot of repair work before it could be used as a business or residence.

City officials have stated that it could cost $300,000 to renovate the building to habitable standards.

It was most recently used to house residents, but has been vacant for several months."

It's amazing what can happen in several months that causes a structure to go from habitable to non-habitable and requiring $300k worth of renovation before it could ever be again.
