Local Republicans continue to ignore tolling as an issue. It's good for their endorsement pay packets, but if Saint Mitch doesn't loosen the gags soon, some of them might suffocate.
TRIBUNE LETTERS: Oct. 10, 2010 ... Democratic leader responds to letter
... In another matter of importance to Floyd and Clark counties, Chuck Freiberger has taken a strong public stand against the proposed tolls on our bridges. The tolls — in effect an additional tax — would be an added financial burden on our citizens, hurt Southern Indiana businesses and penalize those who must use the bridges to get to work, to health care appointments or any other reason they may need to cross the river.

So you're a "subscriber" to the Tribune? And you don't receive the paper?
I have called the Tribune office four times over the years, trying to "subscribe" - each time, no response. I don't get the paper either, but I don't have to pay for the privilege...
I wonder if Mr. Wilcox will write in during the Mayoral race next year to say the very same things about the England Administration as he is doing about Mr. Grooms.
England raised sewer rates and gave himself a pay raise.
And for Mr. Matthews, will he acknowledge if teachers were paid as much as UPS pilots they would be able to take a cut, but as it is now most teachers, in Floyd County, make well under the national average. Would Mr. Matthews be willing to pay hire taxes to keep the schools open?
Mr. Matthews had the luxury of receiveing many years of government paid fight training that paid for his career at UPS and some one needs to tell that to Todd Lalley.
Fair points all the way around, RemChar.
