Open Sesame: Yes, the Big Dig at 5th and Elm has been repaved and will open shortly.


Actually, 5th Street appears to be open now. Looking west (above) and north (below, with the Break Wind Lofts at Duggins Flats casting a long TIF shadow).


Now east, toward the site of the Great Barbershop Siege of 2016, and then ...


 ... a longer view from -- HEY WAIT, GET OUT OF THE WAY.


This is more placid.


Perfect spot for two-way traffic, wouldn't you say?

Here are a few corresponding views from various stages of what proved to be a two-and-a-half-month project. Let's hope the perennial subterranean problems at this intersection have been resolved for good.
