New Albany is a state of mind … but whose? Since 2004, we’ve been observing the contemporary scene in this slowly awakening old river town. If it’s true that a pre-digital stopped clock is right twice a day, when will New Albany learn to tell time?

If you haven’t already seen it, I recommend watching the 2010 documentary Restrepo as a fitting Memorial Day activity. It’s the story of one American platoon in one Afghan valley for one year. All of the narrative comes from the soldiers themselves. The movie takes no position on the war’s morality or politics. It just gives us a window into what it’s like for our soldiers in combat.
Good call, Dan.
