The Saturday editions of both the New Albany Tribune and the Louisville Courier-Journal report on recent progress toward bringing the proposed Cannon Acres sports park to fruition.
Sports-park plan can move ahead; Artifacts won't stop New Albany work, by Ben Zion Hershberg of the Courier-Journal (short shelf life for C-J links).
Here’s an excerpt from Hershberg’s article:
Plans to develop a sports park on Budd Road in New Albany have been approved by the state after extensive archaeological excavations.
The approval by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources means the process of developing soccer and football fields on the 28-acre site near Ind. 111 can go forward, said Bill Koehler, superintendent of the New Albany-Floyd County Parks and Recreation Department.
The Tribune’s managing editor, Chris Morris, covers different ground in a chat with Southern Indiana United youth soccer president Scott Klink and Dave Smith, Providence High’s girls’ soccer coach.
As is commonly the case, the web version of the Tribune is lagging two days behind the print edition, and as yet, we cannot link to Morris’s story.
Note: Here it is, finally.
