LIVE TO EAT: Eh Cumpari pizza lives again at Floyd County Brewing’s Grain Haus.

Damn, I was really hoping for Ethiopian.

Just joking.

While we definitely still need wat and injera downtown, these will have to wait, because it's good to see John Sarnecki and FCBC come together to offer his fine pizza at the Grain Haus.

When we closed the kitchen at Bank Street Brewhousein 2014, John did a few catering gigs with his mobile wood-fired pizza oven. He's always had a good product, so congratulations all around.

Floyd County Brewing’s Grain Haus rolls out new pizza menu, by Kevin Gibson (Insider Louisville)

Floyd County Brewing Company’s on-site outpost, the Grain Haus, will fire up its new wood-fired pizza oven for the public starting today.

After adding a 175-square-foot kitchen back in the fall, brewery owner Brian Hampton commissioned a red-tiled, wood-fired pizza oven by Marra Forni of Beltsville, Md. The restaurant hired Chef John Sarnecki, former owner and operator of pizza food truck Eh Cumpari, to run the kitchen.

The new addition will serve the Grain Haus, which sits in the beer garden just below the brewery and main restaurant; it first opened back in the spring. The pizza will not be available in the main restaurant nor is the main brewery’s menu available at the Grain Haus ...

Downtown New Albany brewpub update: A new FCBC Grain Haus pizza kitchen and a traditional NABC Strassenbräu bier.

The lead story on this morning's Monday Business Briefing at Insider Louisville is our own Floyd County Brewing Company, which will not be adding tacos to the Grain Haus. Take it away, Kevin Gibson.

Floyd County Brewing adding pizza kitchen to Grain Haus

Floyd County Brewing Co. in New Albany expanded in the spring, turning a storage garage into an extra bar with a beer garden. Dubbed the Grain Haus, it will expand again in the coming weeks with the addition of a 175-square-foot kitchen with a custom-made, wood-fired oven.

Also worthy of note from NABC Bank Street Brewhouse, the city's first downtown brewery (marking 10 years in business come March of 2019), is the annual arrival of Strassenbräu.

Of course, Taco Steve remains in the kitchen at Bank Street Brewhouse, doing tacos -- not pizza.

We close with a periodic reminder about the Multiplier Effect of Local Independent Business, from AMIBA.

The multiplier results from the fact that independent locally-owned businesses recirculate a far greater percentage of revenue locally compared to absentee-owned businesses (or locally-owned franchises*). In other words, going local creates more local wealth and jobs.

Downtown NA restaurant and bar scorecard: one new location, two openings and four coming soon.

Today an orange ATC sign appeared on the front door of the former Comfy Cow (109 E. Market), meaning soon the building will enjoy a different life as a bar (I'm pulling for designer frozen Brandy Alexanders). The ATC hearing is on July 3, so the opening will be some time after that.

In back-dated news: Just recently, Floyd County Brewing Company expanded with a new seating area situated just down the hill from the main building. The Grain Haus is separated from the original structure by the Biergarten, and it's up and rolling.

The Grain Haus (129 W. Main Street) "is a dual purpose building used for storing brewing grains for Floyd County Brewing Company, including a tap room with 25 draught taps and 12+ cans & bottle options."

There have been reports of Eh Cumpari mobile pizza sightings, and so my assumption is that food from the FCBC kitchen is not being served at The Grain Haus. Corrections are greatly appreciated (Sunday afternoon update: Brian Hampton explains all):

Currently, The Grain Haus offers a limited bar bites menu from Floyd County Brewing, food trucks such as on Sundays and anyone can bring in food from local restaurants as well.

It's been known for a while that Dragon King's Daughter is moving from the corner of Elm and Bank to 129 W. Market. The time appears to be nearing.
