In order to work my way through my musical year, I'm starting early.
The story's as good as the album. Guitarist Wilko Johnson of the 1970s-era R & B band Dr. Feelgood (generally credited as a formative influence on bands like The Clash) was diagnosed with terminal cancer and decided to go out with a bang, teaming with The Who's Roger Daltrey to record an album of old school, rent party music. The word best describing the result is "joyful." It's what happens when baby boomer rockers grow sufficiently old to think like those grizzled Chicago blues players -- and happily, Johnson's condition was reversed, and he's now cancer free.
