New Albany Main Street improvement project public comment this Thursday.

At last night's city council meeting, John Rosenbarger rose to urge council members to attend the coming meeting, and CM Benedetti asked a very good question:

Was Rosenbarger aware of the Complete Streets Workshop in Jeffersonville?

Yes, he replied, acknowledging the scheduling conflict between it and the Main Street meeting. John then noted that he'd recently attended a complete streets seminar in Indianapolis, which was noteworthy for its inclusion of business people, who seemed quite interested in the precepts therein.

Just like here. In New Albany ... except for CeeSaw, of course.

Diane nudged: Couldn't we do that sort of meeting here in New Albany?

Why, yes we could.

Okay, so can we get on with it? Thanks to Mrs. Benedetti for bringing it up, and to John for his comments ... when and where?

Second New Albany Main Street project hearing set ... Engineer: Input led to some changes in plan, by Daniel Suddeath (N and T)

NEW ALBANY — Planners heeded suggestions as to what improvements should be made along Main Street from residents and have incorporated many of those ideas into a preliminary design for the improvement project, city officials and engineers said Friday.

The public will have a second chance to weigh-in on the estimated $1.79 million project at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, as the plan to upgrade Main Street from East Fifth Street to Vincennes Street will be on display ...

... As for Thursday, the public hearing will be held in the third-floor Assembly Room of the City-County Building. The first public forum drew about 50 people, including residents and city and state officials.

And couldn't we schedule such a program before we proceed with another boondoggle on Main Street?

What were the preceding Main Street boondoggles? I've lost track of them among the many boondoggles these past few years...
