Veterans parade planned for New Albany today.

CM Coffey wanted the run the parade down State Street, but those accursed bump-outs got in the way. At Monday's council meeting, he made it sound like only a matter of time before he organized vigilantes with sledgehammers to remove the obstructions to driving too damned fast. Meanwhile, NAC endorses bump-outs on EVERY street in town.

But seriously ... this parade is a pretty good idea.

Veterans parade planned for New Albany on Wednesday; Free event ends with fireworks, softball game at Joe Kraft Park, by Daniel Suddeath (N and T).

NEW ALBANY — A parade and ceremony to honor military veterans will proceed from the PC Home Center off Cherry Street to Joe Kraft Park off West Seventh Street in New Albany on Independence Day.

The parade is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, and will include local veterans groups and posts as well as New Albany police vehicles and an antique fire engine according to Dan Coffey, a city councilman and one of the organizers of the event.
