It will delight Bob Caesar to learn that my self-imposed six-month moratorium on city council meeting attendance has expired, and on Thursday evening it is my intention to find the usual nickel seat in the peanut gallery for the floor show.
If ever there was need of a cash bar, it is twice monthly on the third floor. But that's why they make flasks.
Even regular blog readers may be surprised to learn that I haven't attended a council meeting since July. This might be the longest such streak of my non-attendance since the inception of NA Confidential.
The Reisz Mahal luxury city hall relocation fix was appalling, and the immediate aftermath of "Republican Barksdale Helps Make Democratic Party Special Interests Great Again" was concurrent with the advent of Pints&union, which initially precluded attendance for Thursday evening council gatherings, with or without an air sickness bag.
In fact, my absence has had much more to do with work than grand statements. I might have trekked to the third floor for two or three Monday gatherings, but in the end it just seemed like a good idea to hike up into the Sierra Maestra instead -- or maybe Silver Hills -- and begin plotting the next stage of the revolution.
It's a new year with new priorities. Someone told me there's a local election this year. Does Greg Phipps have an opponent yet? Hmm.
