City council body language for the evening of January 4.

Okay, so they didn't exactly say these things out loud ... but nonetheless, here are the subliminal messages as gleaned from body language, in order of the newly implemented seating arrangements, and ending with the president and vice president.

----

Bill Schmidt: Mr. Building Commissioner, tear down these houses … uh, well, not that I’m going to let you have anywhere close to enough money to do it. That way the grandstanding can continue. Heck, can’t take care of what we got. Why, when I was a boy, we’d take ‘em down with Bowie knives and bare hands.

Steve Price: Any notion of economic development that requires funding beyond the inexpensive level required for random divine intervention is unacceptable to me, and we can't afford it, and I’m against it now, forever, and always. Have you tried asking another God for the money?

Bev Crump: 361 days and counting.

Jeff Gahan: Free at last, free at last.

Donnie Blevins: Black socks or blue? Wheaties or corn flakes? Progs or trogs? I just can’t decide.
Jack Messer: You do your duty, and sometimes, they thank you for it. Other times …

Kevin Zurschmiede: Are these second thoughts, or am I coming down with a really nasty case of the flu?

Larry Kochert: Hah! It’s all about me.

Dan Coffey: No, Larry. It’s all about me.

So let me get this straight. So Larry is the president and Dan is his backup, or is it Coffey is the puppeteer and Kochert is the marionette?

NO wait! in order to get a message to either one, we still have to through CM Price,(he's the only one on that side that'll return a phone call), and then Steve has to get it cleared through Bill (that would be Mrs. Bill) and then it gets sent back up the line (that's two tin cans on a piece of string).

The last I heard even that system was down. Seems that one of the tin cans was left lying in the street and got ran over by a bycycle. Damn those progressive cyclists!

One does have to admit however that they are staying true to their blacklung culture. "Keep 'em deaf, dumb, barefoot & pregnant and we got nothin' to be afeared of! Let 'em git edicated & we'ns is in trouble!"

Either way there seem to be a lot of strings involved and there is a rumor afoot that voters are priceing (no pun intended) a new pair of scissors.
