Another year in Nawbany, and two more mature, living trees being felled.
The Townshend logging crew was taking a break, and I turned to one and said, "it's a shame, isn't it?"
"Sure is," he relied, "but that's what they wanted."
"They?"
"Yes, (gesturing to the west) the city."
"Were these trees dead?"
"No -- well, one had some bad spots. They're living, though."
(This article took less than ten minutes to write. I'm on sabbatical from involvement in public affairs, insofar as participating takes time I no longer have. But if you want to feed me straight lines, I'll toss off one-liners all day long. That's just FUN, as are short, barbed and factual commentaries like this one).
