GREEN MOUSE SAYS: Just $400k in mechanics' liens involving Denton Floyd and the Mansion on Main. Whither the Reisz Mahal?

As noted in Louisville Business First, two Mansion on Main subcontractors have filed "mechanics' liens" against various of Denton Floyd's LLCs.

The Green Mouse first heard about this last December.

Lien this way, because it's a Mansion on Main pop quiz -- and we're leaning toward this autographed 12-pack of Bud Light Lime Mango-Rita as first prize.

To learn more about DF Development LLC, go here. There's even nice views of Mayor Jeff Gahan cutting the ribbon at Mansion on Main.

It's amazing Gahan can reach the ribbon with the scissors given all that cash in his pockets. To no one's surprise, one or the other arms of Denton Floyd have found it expedient to feather Gahan's re-election nest ever since then-redevelopment wheel-greaser David Duggins structured the pay-to-play.

Sonny and Cher provide the coda.

That's LA, not NA: "City Hall candidates are saying no to real estate developer donations."

Streetsblog referred to an article in the Washington Post, and I retweeted it.

Just imagine living in a place where a local politician would find it advantageous to renounce the sort of "beaks wetted" campaign contributions which here in New Albany comprise the fundamental building blocks of governance. Just imagine living in a place where local journalists cared.

You may say I'm a dreamer ...

Seeking an edge over incumbents, these L.A. City Hall candidates are saying no to real estate developer donations, byEmily Alpert Reyes and David Zahniser (Los Angeles Times)

Two years ago, in a tough race for the Los Angeles City Council, health clinic executive David Ryu made a promise that helped propel him to victory: He swore off campaign contributions from real estate developers.

That promise, Ryu said, was meant to reassure voters that community needs, not political donations, would guide his decisions on new building projects.

Now, with concerns over development and campaign cash taking center stage in the March 7 election, an array of candidates are embracing the same strategy as they look to topple incumbents, some of whom have a steep financial advantage.

Public affairs consultant Mitchell Schwartz, waging a long-shot bid to unseat Mayor Eric Garcetti, said he won't take campaign funds from real estate developers. Council candidates in races from Echo Park to Westchester have made similar promises, singling out that money as a symbol of City Hall corruption.

Too many cooks: Captain Frank Road, INDOT, theocratic fascism and the city council at large.

Flash!

Kerry Stemler, 1Si and ROCK have announced a bold new initiative stipulating a "mobility solution" for the New Albany city council at-large primary race. It's a revolving forgivable campaign contribution loan fund eligible to be used by each and every primary candidate who does not own a brewery, and it's called the Ride Big Mouth Brewery Owners Out of Town on a Light Rail Fund.

I'm told that Steve Stemler will keep it in the extended family and co-author the ban on independent throught. Ayatollah Wickens was at Wal-Mart shopping for lighter fluid and marshmallows for the loan's fundraiser, a festive weekend book burning in Sellersburg, and therefore could not be reached for comment.

Hey you -- that's right, asphalt dude! Watch that sidewalk curb, will ya? Those things cost money, you know.

Today's Tribune column: "Who was that masked man?"

The troglodytes wouldn't keep their traps shut. I had to come clean. Either that, or start thinking about the best place to take all those unmarked Franklins into voluntary exile.

BAYLOR: Who was that masked man?

I shrugged and handed him the bill, and he stuffed it down his shirt. Suddenly there was a loud crash, and I jumped back, expecting the worst. Looking at the pockmarked pavement, I saw that it was just another in a series of bricks falling from the rear of the furniture store. When I turned back to face my bookie, he was long gone.
