BAYLOR: Poking sticks into cagesI should be devoting time today to organize our Don't Tread On Booze Anti-Taxus Tea Party, but it makes more sense to me to spend the day drinking in celebration of Indiana's surely short-lived competitive alcohol pricing advantage over Kentucky, but then again, the Commonwealth has Coach Calipari now, and there's nothing more capitalistic than paying the basketball coach more than the state's budget for health care, so just remember our new urban mantra at NAC:
Once upon a time at our pub and pizzeria, two male customers came bouncing inside in an obvious state of delirious pre-intoxication — whether liquid or herbal couldn’t be determined — and ordered pizza.
Livin' for the city ... workin' for the subsidy.

Fantastic column!!! I feel the same way! Keep fighting the establishment.
Careful, podry, Mr. Baylor is merely pretending to "fight" the establishment and is only interested in making as much money as possible, being the ultra-capitalist that he is...
(/sarcasm)
Good column. I never did get my pizza though, but the officer was surprisingly gentle during the frisking.
But so you know, Coach Cal is being paid almost entirely from TV revenue. UK doesn't use state tax money for its coaches.
"UK doesn't use state tax money for its coaches."
Of course not! That's the money they use for the recruits!
Come on Bayer, if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying. Kind of like when Kahn used an extra long and illegal set of gloves to block USA's kicks in the 2002 world cup.
Hadn't heard that conspiracy theory for awhile. That was a difficult match for me to watch, being a fan of the Nationalelf as well as the US.
I was just tickled we made it that far. Kind of like IU when they got invited to the big ten tourney :)
Roger mentioning his business in a Tribune article? Never woulda thunk it. Long Live Capitalism!
Sounds like jealousy...
You know it. I am jealous of that brillian business mind. But, I am taking notes and when I grow up...
Roger - got a gig fer'ya sticking
'lectric prods into a tank of eels I've heard about at the "Open-Air Museum"...
I exercised appropriate discretion and did not identify my business by name. Anyway, I've borrowed all my self-promotional tricks from Mr Wickens.
But you actually are a citizen of New Albany!!
Roger mentioning his business in a Tribune article? Never woulda thunk it. Long Live Capitalism!
Seems like your column titling was well played.
Daniel Short, your overreaction is very reminiscent of Mr. Matthews crazed rebuttal about Lincoln a few weeks back. Are you bucking for a promotion in the Floyd Republicans? Are these types of overreactions a prerequisite for being in a leadership role?
Daniel S, are you going to be watching any Champions League action this week? I'm thinking about heading to whatever establishment, which will remain unnamed, will be showing said game when Die Rote take on Barca. I would be happy to buy you a beer and enjoy the game!
Bayerfan, I am not affiliated with the FC Republicans. I have met Dave Matthews a couple times. The truth is that I am fed up with all of them, on both sides. I know I have given Roger a tough time the past couple days, but I thought someone should expose his agenda. (wink)
Color me curious about the Bayrnfan's enthused query about the Champions League; a quick perusal of the FSC site revealed nothing for the weekend; what are the dates and times, mon ami?
Apologies, Jon. Champions League is next Tuesday and Wednesday on ESPN 2 and ESPN Classic. The 'return' matches will then be played the following week.
Bayern/Barca play on Wednesday, however it appears that ESPN won't be showing the Bayern match, the only match of the 4 QF matches that they aren't showing. That can't be right...although ESPN does tend to favor the English sides
I'll say one thing for you soccer guys, you sure make me appreciate Roger's NBA talk!!
Bayer,
I've kind of fallen off watching league play, but always enjoy a good match. Just let me know.
I met one of Senor Baylor's former employees, Jonathan Swanz, for lunch at the new digs Tuesday and we both loved it. He's quite the artist and I'm working on a feature about him.
JSwanz is big league all the way, both personally and as pertains to his art. Glad you guys got together.
