2014 ThunderFoot Halloween Hangover release day is Saturday, November 1, at both NABC locations

Although I don't pay close attention to the "oracle" beer ratings sites, I'm told that ThunderFoot scores well. We haven't brewed it regularly during past years, but probably will do so again yearly in small batches from now on. The base style is Imperial Stout, which I once described in a Food & Dining magazine column:

Just as exuberantly hoppy India Pale Ale evolved along the shipping lanes from Great Britain to toasty colonial India, robust and jet-black Imperial Stout was adopted by English brewers and traders as the ideal export beverage for cooler northerly markets in Russia and the port cities of the Baltic Sea. Highly alcoholic, displaying intensely roasted and deeply fruity flavors, Imperial Stout is perhaps the only style of beer that can be termed “thick as oil” without a trace of exaggeration.

ThunderFoot is augmented with cherries and oak aging. It is an elegant but strong libation, and any resemblance to the Publican's size 16s is purely intentional.

ThunderFoot's story and stats are here.

ThunderFoot's release day information is here.

In case you're wondering, Gravity Head 2015 draws ever nearer: February 27, 2015.

ThunderFoot looms above Reaganplatz ... and also goes on sale tomorrow.

Tomorrow (October 1) is the Harvest Homecoming parade, NAC's parade party and the Something Different pig roast with craft beer. It's also the day NABC chose to release ThunderFoot 22-oz bomber bottles for carry-out purchase by the general public. This is the first bottle release ever of our highly rated "dry-cherried" Imperial Stout, which was a year old at the time of bottling. ThunderFoot bombers will be available all day on the 1st (one day only!) at both NABC locations, and if there's any left over, Southern Indiana commercial accounts get the next stab, followed by our friends at Cavalier Distributing Inc. in Indianapolis and other wholesalers.

Pricing for carry-out sales on October 1st, from either the Pizzeria & Public House or Bank Street Brewhouse, is $15 per bottle and $160 per case.

Saturday, October 1 is going to be a fun day in New Albany.

For one, there'll be a renewal of the Harvest Homecoming parade party institution (in a local election year, no less) at the Confidential domicile. 2011 will be the seventh edition, and for complete information, merely change the date in last year's preview to October 1, and read:

Let's protest tolls, heckle 1Si, and drink beer at NAC's Harvest Homecoming Parade Gala at 1117 ESSNA.

October 1 also is the day NABC has chosen to release ThunderFoot 22-oz bomber bottles for carry-out purchase by the general public. ThunderFoot bombers will be available all day on the 1st (only!) at both NABC locations, and if there's any left over, Southern Indiana commercial accounts get the next stab, then our friends at Cavalier Distributing Inc.

But there's even more. After the NAC bash and parade has concluded, there'll be a pig roast (all ages, with burgers and hot dogs, too) and an NABC cash beer bar at Something Different II on 3rd Street by the floodwall. A percentage of the proceeds from beer sales will go to 1st District Councilman Dan Coffey's annual Christmas Party for children in his neighborhood.

Plan on a moveable feast: 1117 East Spring Street Neighborhood Association for the parade, a stroll to Something Different for food and drink, and then an afternoon/night cap at Bank Street Brewhouse and carry-out ThunderFoot. Verily, Gregg Seidl might graft the events of the day onto his walking accounts of nefarious (or ironic) New Albany.
