Outraged that New Albany plans on staging a bicentennial celebration that doesn’t take into account his contribution to the city’s fabled Luddite history, the Wizard of Westside has submitted his own statue design to sculptor Guy Tedesco after reading about it in the Tribune."The newspaper didn't have all the information," said Cappuccino, who added, "It was the first I'd heard of it. We can't let professional sculptors decide which statues to design. That's the city council's job."

Sculptor and artist Guy Tedesco will begin designing a statue of Davis Floyd — a member of one of the original families to settle in the Falls of the Ohio region — to commemorate New Albany’s 2013 bicentennial. The Board of Public Works and Safety approved a contract with Tedesco on Tuesday. If approved by the City Council, the artist will complete a conceptual design of the statue by Jan. 31.
