"2013 Great Taste of the Midwest Review," by Peter Fingerson ... and some other recent additions to the NABC team.

One of NABC's newest employees, Peter Fingerson, has written an account of the Great Taste of the Midwest and posted it at LouisvilleBeer.com. Included are photographs from Peter's wife, Aubrey.

Peter was contributing columns to LouisvilleBeer.com before we hired him at NABC. Initially he was an applicant for the sales position now occupied by Blake Montgomery, and David Pierce almost immediately pegged Peter as the brewer we needed as the next step expansion nears.

Of course, we still miss Richard Atnip in the NABC family (Richard was on duty for New Holland at the Great Taste, and we chatted about the old and the new), but in the end, the search for Richard yielded three new team members: Blake, Peter and Alliee Bliss, who has been bartending wonderfully at Bank Street Brewhouse. Add to those names Kimberly Durham and Julie Adwell, all-purpose coordinators coming aboard this summer at BSB and Grant Line, respectively, and you can see that we've been growing.

As a writer, I'm especially taken with Peter's composition skills ... and Aubrey can take a mean photo. We're up somewhere around 75 full- and part-time employees. It's a far cry from the days of manning the bar solo, six days a week -- thankfully.

Our newest NABC hires.

After NABC posted on-line in April for the brewery representative position being vacated by Richard Atnip, we received 45 applications.

It was a "wow" moment for me.

For perhaps the first time in company history, we formed a committee of owners and managers, and began going through the submissions. There were many good ones, and it wasn't easy sifting through so much talent.

This resulted in a final list of 10, two rounds of interviews, and the eventual hiring of Blake Montgomery. Significantly, two others among the applicants have been hired for jobs other than brewery rep: Peter Fingerson in the brewery, and Alliee Bliss as bartender and server at Bank Street Brewhouse.

Blake is from Kansas, his wife hails from right here in New Albany, and they've lived in Kokomo for a long while. It's heartening to know that they're willing to relocate for the job, and all of us at NABC are feeling good about what's coming.
