"Would this have happened on a 2-way street?"



It's from 2013, and Jeff Speck tweeted it last week.

Granted, I haven't seen a walker in New Albany hit -- at least yet. However, the degree of inattentiveness ingrained in drivers by one-way streets is beyond dispute, and I witness it on a daily basis.

Houston Police Chief Charles McClelland was ordered by the city's mayor to take one day of unpaid leave this year after he hit a pedestrian on September 4. The chief had a green light and was turning left, but hit a lawyer who had a walk signal. The lawyer broke part of his arm and will have to spend five weeks in a cast. Chief McClelland will need to take his unpaid leave within a year but has yet to designate a day
