New Albany is a state of mind … but whose? Since 2004, we’ve been observing the contemporary scene in this slowly awakening old river town. If it’s true that a pre-digital stopped clock is right twice a day, when will New Albany learn to tell time?

New Albany Firefighters endorsements.
New Albany Professional Firefighters Legislative Committee Endorsements (left to right): Ben Fee, Greg Phipps, Jeff Gahan, Tonye Rutherford, Samuel Heavrin.
Tonye Rutherford for City Council. How did this happen? Is this the best the party can come up with? The Party, on all levels, is falling apart at the seams and Rutherford being on the ticket is a pretty good indicator of that.
This is truly remarkable. While I was proud to earn the endorsement of the firefighters union in the May primary, I'm shocked that the union would endorse a candidate for mayor who is on record as supporting a 20% across-the-board reduction in fire department salaries.
That's a totally irresponsible position that, to my knowledge, Gahan has not renounced. I'm certain that the union does not know that the Democratic candidate wants to cut starting firefighter pay to around $16,000 a year.
Wait - there's an African-American running? Has NA ever had representation from this community on the city council? I'm shocked.
