As we reported earlier today, New Albany redistricting to be revised (Courier-Journal).
An ordinance redrawing the boundaries of the New Albany City Council's six voting districts is expected to be sent to a new committee for revision after getting a 4-4 vote in its first review earlier this month.
According to Robert's Rules, it takes six votes to table the existing ordinance.
ReplyDeleteWhich six will vote to table a redistricting plan that the council president himself said was fair?
I bet President Gahan will (if he even requests that they follow the rules) since he's proven to be such a hypocrite in this matter.
Wonder if will take a Federal Court to get them to follow that rule too?
ReplyDeleteI emailed Marcey Wisman last week to get the population information to see if my redistricting plan would work for population. I have yet to hear anything back from her. I don't think it would be hard for them to let me know either way what is going on.
ReplyDeleteBoil it down and you have a couple districts with more than one council member. Translation - some will forced out of their positions at the next election or worse, be forced to move to another district. Is this cumbersome group really so tight that they will yet again defy a court order to protect each other? I think so. New Albany loses again.
ReplyDeleteLarry,
ReplyDeleteYour best bet for getting the info you want from Marcie is face to face during business hours.
Just tell her you want a copy of the Redistricting Commitees' Report.
Voicemail & emails don't sem to always get thru!
Daniel,
We ain't lost yet, we're just beginning the next round!
I went down to Marcey's office and her assistant told me that did not have the document. I had to go down and get a copy from Linda Moeller.
ReplyDeleteWho the hell is Robert and what idiot put him in charge of the rules?
ReplyDeleteOh I'm sorry, wrong blogsite!
