Splendid Isolation.

But I never go to Louisville on Derby Day.

That's an ironclad rule in the Confidential household; leave town whenever possible for Thunder over Louisville (which was COVID-canceled this year), and hunker down in or near the hacienda on D-Day. May or September, there's no difference, even without 150,000 spectators.

Anyone who believes a horse race is part of the healing process simply doesn't understand the nature of gambling. However, flying dogs arguably are different, as with my morning's post at F&D.

Decadence, depravity, Hunter S. Thompson and a commemorative Derby beer from Flying Dog, at Food & Dining Magazine
