BOW says: "Sprint Street could be converted to two-way traffic soon."

Yes, I know.

Move along; nothing to see here.

Two-way street conversion moving closer to reality in New Albany, by Chris Morris (Hanson's Random Meeting Coverage Generator)

Date to switch Spring Street may be announced next week

NEW ALBANY — Sprint Street could be converted to two-way traffic soon.

The city is in the process of milling, paving and striping Spring, Elm and Market streets prior to converting the one-way streets to two-way. Spring and Elm have already been paved and striping on Spring Street is rolling along. The striping work will begin on the south side of the street Monday. Market Street is currently being paved. Once it is finished crews will begin milling and paving Bank and Pearl streets.

City Engineer Larry Summers said the conversion of the streets will be staggered to let people get adjusted to the new traffic pattern, with Spring being the first to open to two-way traffic. Summers added that an official date for Spring Street conversion could be announced at the June 20 board of public works meeting.

Summers said there are still a "few things" that could delay the conversion date. He said drivers will get a sneak preview beginning Monday when traffic is shifted to the north side of Spring so striping can be completed on the south side.

"Once the traffic is moved to the north side of Spring Street, there should not be any further confusion if there is any currently as the traffic will be operating in its permanent configuration while work continues on the south side of the street," Summers said in an email.

All the underground signal work should also be completed this week.
