'Uptown' New Albany Businesses To Host Collective Holiday Open House

Event to include first-ever ornament walk; benefits Southern Indiana Hope

NEW ALBANY, IND.- More than 10 New Albany businesses will host a collective "uptown" New Albany open house and ornament walk at their respective businesses 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 benefitting Hope Southern Indiana.

The free event begins at the Calumet Club, 1614 E. Spring St., where participants will register and receive a map of participating businesses as well as the initial piece of a Christmas ornament. At each stop on the walk, attendees will receive another piece to add to the ornament so that it is completed after the culmination of visits to each stop.

Once finished, participants are invited to go back to the Calumet Club where kids and adults alike can enjoy live entertainment, cider from Huber's Orchard & Winery, snacks and hot chocolate from Stumler's Catering, and adults can enjoy seasonal tastings from New Albanian Brew House and Old 502 Winery.

Walgreens will provide free family photos. Door prizes also will be offered.

Participants are automatically entered in the drawing but can earn another entry for every $10 spent at the businesses during the ornament walk. The drawing takes place at 3:55 p.m. Businesses participating in the ornament walk include Strandz Salon & Threadz Boutique, Posh Salon, Bush Keller Sporting Goods, A Box of Chocolate, Bliss Travel, Southern Indiana Paint Supply as well as several others. The event is free and no purchases are necessary, but donations to Hope Southern Indiana are welcomed.

About Hope Southern Indiana

Hope Southern Indiana, formerly Interfaith Community Council, began in 1964 as the Downtown Neighborhood Council. The goal was to provide constructive after-school activities for youth in the center city of New Albany. Four churches shared in that vision and collaborated together to make this goal a reality. Through the years, depending on the existing needs in the community, programs were added, programs were changed and some programs were discontinued. Today, Hope Southern Indiana continues to build bridges between churches and the community to best meet the needs of residents in Southern Indiana through a variety of programs and services.
