New Albany is a state of mind … but whose? Since 2004, we’ve been observing the contemporary scene in this slowly awakening old river town. If it’s true that a pre-digital stopped clock is right twice a day, when will New Albany learn to tell time?

Recap: How we met the firkins last Friday night.
It isn't everyone's pint of ale, but for those (like me) fascinated by the English tradition of cask-conditioning (i.e., naturally carbonating) beer, an event featuring local examples is much appreciated.
Bluegrass Brewing Company (St. Matthews) formerly hosted the cask fest, a kickoff for Louisville Craft Beer Week. This year, NABC took it over. Featured ales last Friday night were from Louisville metro and Indiana breweries. We were very pleased with the turnout, and we'll be doing it again next year. Thanks to the BIG guild for the equipment loan, participating breweries, and Bank Street Brewhouse's staff -- they knocked it out of the park, short-handed, on a Friday night.
