Plymouth Day 8: Looe.

Looe is a small port town on the Cornish coast. When Cornwall was a mining center in times of old, Looe was a major shipping point. Nowadays it hosts a few fisherman and quite many more tourists, making for a crowded beach scene in times of good weather, as the photos amply illustrate.

William Pengelly was born in Looe.

William Pengelly, FRS FGS (12 January 1812 – 16 March 1894) was a British geologist and early archaeologist who was one of the first to contribute proof that the Biblical chronology of the earth calculated by Archbishop James Ussher was incorrect.

Leaving Jennie to sunbathe, we went for a walk, soon resulting in D leading me up the largest hill in East Looe. The billy goat routine produced panoramic photos, a powerful thirst, and an early night to bed.

Time was winding down.

(The account of our visit to the UK is being posted piecemeal, backdated to the actual day)
