New Albany is a state of mind … but whose? Since 2004, we’ve been observing the contemporary scene in this slowly awakening old river town. If it’s true that a pre-digital stopped clock is right twice a day, when will New Albany learn to tell time?

Plymouth Day 4: Dartmoor.
Wherever you are in Plymouth, you can usually look to the northeast and see the austere moorlands called Dartmoor. We went for a scenic drive and stopped at the Dartmoor Inn Merrivale for the traditional Sunday meal of roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, carrots and cabbage (vegetables not pictured). Later came Andy Murray's Wimbledon triumph, as viewed at the Foresters Arms pub in Plympton, a town near Plymouth that we'd visited on Friday.
(The account of our visit to the UK is being posted piecemeal, backdated to the actual day)
