On the origins of farting.

It's our first ever post about farting -- except for all those other posts about city council meetings, in which gas explosions are implied.

Who knew there was a reason? I always assumed it was a form of non-verbal communication. For the benefit of those from four to fifty-four, the British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver explains why beans cause flatulence, which one should endeavor to emit with pride.

Ask a grown-up: why do beans make you fart? Four-year-old Joseph's question is answered by Jamie Oliver (Guardian)

... Remember, whoever smelt it dealt it, but whoever said the rhyme did the crime – if you've got a young sibling that can't talk or a forgetful elderly relative, blame them… Just don't tell your parents I told you that.
