"Lazy Bones."

My customary morning routine includes home office desk time for writing and paperwork. Last Thursday I was starting to feel heat from the window as the rising sun got over the treetops across the street. At my feet was Bugg, our youngest, basking in the warmth.

Of course, Bugg couldn't leave well enough alone, and she began performing once the shutter began to snap. Still, my first impression of the scene, apart from a desire to immediately swap jobs with her, was to recall a song: "Lazy Bones," with lyrics by Johnny Mercer and music by Hoosier native son Hoagy Carmichael. There are numerous recorded versions, but how could my chosen performer NOT be Leon Redbone?
