The vote was 7-1 in favor, with only Nathan Samuel dissenting on grounds of semantics. Samuel probably shouldn't have been seated next to Ron Grooms when both served on the Jeff council.
Jeffersonville City Council calls for delay of bridge, by David A. Mann (N and T)
JEFFERSONVILLE — It’s not often that a councilman gets a round of applause at a Jeffersonville City Council meeting. However, Councilman Dennis Julius received that kind of reception Monday night when he introduced a resolution calling on the delay of the downtown portion of the Ohio River Bridges Project.
I differ on Rep. Clere being AWOL. He is for building both bridges and tolling to pay for them. It's not a position that I agree with but at least he has stated his.
ReplyDeleteWhat I would like is for Rep. Clere to explain why he believes that BOTH have to built. The studies are showing that the positives of this project are almost exclusively from the East End Bridge and most of the negatives are from the additional 65 span and tolls on it and the Kennedy. A lot of those negatives affect his constituents and we deserve an answer from him.
Your suggestion that he explain why is the intended connotation for AWOL. Ever since he removed FB comments, he's been unwilling to engage those who disagree; that way, he can continue to believe opposition exists. Clere is the master at rationalizing cognitive dissonance.
ReplyDeleteMy mistake. I was remembering when he wouldn't say anything, pro or con, about the project and tolls.
