HARBESON: I call illegal procedure on legislators’ moves
... Similarly, Grooms and Clere have been running plays for special interest groups who have been unable to break through local government to get what they want. Both men are using their state positions to introduce legislation which will create new local government entities with taxing authority. These politicians are doing end runs around the communities they represent.
New Albany is a state of mind … but whose? Since 2004, we’ve been observing the contemporary scene in this slowly awakening old river town. If it’s true that a pre-digital stopped clock is right twice a day, when will New Albany learn to tell time?

Debbie Harbeson: "I call illegal procedure on legislators’ (Clere, Grooms) moves."
You can bet that Kent, Amy Adams and the rest of the professional Clere Channel cheerleaders aren't going to like this one.
Groom’s idea for the airport is the wrong direction.
ReplyDeleteInstead of increasing government involvement into the airport Clark Co. needs to open it wide open for private investment. Right now, and in the past, it has been local government that has held KJVY back. Clark Co. will reap the rewards even if they don't have complete control.
Ms. Harbeson's libertarian views shield her from objective reasoning.
Ed's bill is new to me and I didn't know we had any political problems with the parks, but if his bill allows the parks greater flexibility in which they can improve New Albany's sorry park system I'm all for it. It might even improve the city enough where property values go up and taxes can be reduced. Does that ever happen?
