Long time New Albany Mayor Doug England is not seeking re-election after all. England is expected to make the announcement at a Wednesday news conference.
In September, England announced he would seek a fourth four year term, but at the news conference, England will instead endorse a candidate who has never run for office, attorney and businessman Irv Stumler.

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry before I've even asked - who is Irv Stumler? Does he stand for something other than loving New Albany? The town has been loved to death.

ReplyDelete"Make New Albany better..."
"Listen to the people..."
"My duty to serve the people"
Be interesting to see how many of these will be used.
Irv Stumler is the person who came to the city council meeting to defend the tree cutting at St. Mary's. His defense was more alarming to me than the actual cutting, as he explained that the only proper replacement for the felled trees would be bush-like ornamentals because to replant otherwise would mean branches overhanging the street and sidewalk, which he viewed as detrimental.
ReplyDeleteThat seems unfortunately indicative of the mindset with which we start.
I remember that meeting, Jeff.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone else fill us in with some background on Mr. Stumler.
Paul Etheridge? has filed today as a Democrat for Mayor.

ReplyDeleteGreat - so he's on the side of street flooding. Check.
What else do we know about this Irv Stumler?
