But: I'm probably not looking at either of those conditions any time soon, so it looks as though the usual suspects will assemble in the council chamber tomorrow night to endure another round of punishment.
The agenda has been released, and the Tribune looks at two of the biggest items.

However, the most compelling meeting of the week looks to be Tuesday evening's Board of Zoning Appeals session. Too bad that it's Klezmer Night at the Brewhouse.
Decision time for Eastridge request
After three postponements, the New Albany Board of Zoning Appeals will likely vote on a variance request Tuesday for a controversial tire shredding and recycling center along Ind. 111.
“The city wants to take over the Silver Street location to ensure business moves that will follow zoning ordinances and be accepted by the community, Deputy Mayor Carl Malysz said last week. “
ReplyDeleteThe city can not ensure anyone, let alone business, will follow zoning ordinances! We have been having this discussion for HOW LONG?! People! Enough nonsense. When the city we pay to run this ghetto can start, just start, taking care of what’s already on it’s proverbial plate, they will be busy till, very busy.
Why are people silent while THEIR government fleeces what is left of this god forsaken place? WTF - a petroleum dump is not what we, as a community, need to spend dwindling resources on. It’s insane.
If the city is buying problems, the slum-dump next door to me is probably available as a mission for redevelopment, just to ensure community standards, zoning, all that crap are followed. Wait...the Simpsons was just on, am I dreaming, is this a bad dream?
How can Malysz sit there and say that they want to ensure that the other businesses at 2045 silver street will comply with the zoning laws, when the city itself has basically done nothing but file empty lawsuits?
ReplyDeleteThis has occurred under thier watch, and continues to occur today, as it will tomorrow, and next week as well.
Mountains of shredded tires will continue to be piled up, and trashed tires will continue to show up in the alleys and yards surrounding the property, just as they have since day one.
Nieghbors warned the powers that were and the powers that be that this was going to be the case, but it fell on deaf ears.
Promises were made, and forgotten. Deadlines were set and passed with out ramifications for Eastridge and CCE (now CBE)
Unless the citizenry of New Albany shows uip en masse to protest Eastridge and CCE and his proposal it will continue at a different site, under a different company name.
Just as it did on 4th street prior to Silver street.
Eastridge and his "management" are sneaky, manipulative, and have no problem with throwing low blows and turning residents against each other. And charming the living hell out of politicians by offeirng ultra low bids on city offered contracts.
The man certainly knows how to get his bread buttered at the expense of others. Proof of this will become readily ralized when we the tax payers foot the bill for the clean up of 2045 silver street, jsut as we did for 4th street and just as we will for 111 and corydon pike.
Amen, Amen Chris, the only thing you forgot is the big Joker in this sad turn of events which is IDEM, what a joke of an outfit at taxpayers expense!!!!!
