This seems like the final lull before the days begin speeding full tilt toward Christmas, beginning with numerous event during the coming weekend, then Harvest Homecoming, and -- zoom: 2010.
Consequently, today it's open thread, open topic ... or none at all. I'll be back tomorrow.
Well, I'm not sure what else to say other than it was sweet to watch the Giants beat the Cowboys last night in Jerry Jones' Taj Mahal. And having go-go dancers at NFL game, in their perches, was just wrong.
ReplyDeleteHeres a topic for ya'll:
ReplyDeleteThanks to the men and women who have invested in downtown New Albany. To those who have opened businesses, and those who continue to run tried and true local icons.
The revitalization of Downtown New Albany could and would not happen with out the dedication, investment, and willingness to take a chance on what many people had said was a waste of time.
Conner's place, BSB, Studios, Market Street Fish House, DRC, Destinations, and so many others!
Thank you guys!
Thanks, Chris. Ironically, it's precisely the same topic as I'm using for the Thursday column.
ReplyDeleteI watched two baseball games yesterday and will not view football until Thanksgiving, if then.
ReplyDeleteBUT ...
Youthful training survives, and it's always a pleasure for Dallas to lose!
Who dey! Who dey! Who dey think gonna beat them Bengals?
ReplyDeleteAs a Dolphin fan, it warmed my heart to watch the Pats go down in flames yesterday...

ReplyDeleteFrom today's Tribune: "City makes offer on former Hoosier Panel site"
ReplyDelete“The commission wanted to buy the site because of the constant complaints about Eastridge’s business”,
“Appraisals put the worth of the property at $1.2 million, Malysz said. It’s estimated the environmental cleanup will cost $600,000, a price the city would bear if the transaction is accepted by Eastridge.”
So, correct my stark-raving math if I calculated wrong - we the residents should pay $600,000 to an egregious polluter so he can move on to a fresh site to pollute?
Gina,
ReplyDeleteYes my friend that is exactly what the city is saying.
Let a crooked business man ignore every code on the books, get sued by the city for the lawsuit to just magically disappear, be given cease and desist orders for those orders to not be enforced.
Break environmental laws, destroy wetlands with illegal tire dumps, and so on.
When it gets too deep to have anything to do to fix the problem, buy his property, give him a profit, let the tax payers pay to clean up his mess (check some history with this guy and little place on 4th street before he moved to 2045 silver),
Let him move his operation to 111 and corydon pike (where he and the city are all ready in trouble for violations of the federal wetlands act), and then keep giving him city contracts for demolition jobs to be illegally dumped on his site, and start the whole thing over again.
Its a great day in our fair city!
This is great stuff...if someone else can link it better, please do...
