Grandstanding aficionados note: Show trial begins tonight.

6:00 p.m. in the torture chamber, and it's BYOW -- Bring Yer Own Waterboards.

Will Professor Erika propose firing the deputy mayor ten times to total the amount of the needed cut? Will the Wizard of Westside apologize? Will Li'l Stevie say "people are hurtin'"? Will I drink a few Progressive Pints before the meeting starts?

(YES to the latter ... and don't forget, there's a block party down the street tonight)

  1. I plan on being at the meeting. Anyone else?

  2. I had considered it, but instead, going to do something constructive.
Some High School Students want to paint a havest homecoming theme on the windows of the New Albany Clinic on Spring Street for the parade.
Perhaps it will detract from the mountain of dirt resulting from a main water line break.

  3. The question isn't whether Coffey will apologize. The question is whether or not he was telling the truth.

  4. You mean, there is a question?

  5. Truth about which part?

  6. He blamed the $4.8 million shortfall on the administration's overspending. That obviously wasn't the case. Why did he say it? Does he think everyone should just lie in tough situations? Is that leadership?

He referenced anonymous former insiders to back up his initial claim. Who are they? If he's not willing to name his sources and provide some evidence, why say it? Or did he just make that up, too? Again, is that how he thinks council business should be conducted?

He's still claiming they overspent. What expenditures is he talking about? Is he claiming the administration has already spent more this year than what the council approved? If the administration is within the council-approved budget, isn't the council responsible, too?

  7. I tried to get at that yesterday but I can't get access to our audit yet.

  8. Thanks, D. I hope you do get at it.

If everyone had followed Coffey's lead and believed his B.S. explanation, the City would have lost $4 million of taxpayer money.

That's pretty serious from where I'm sitting.

  9. We'll get it definitely, hopefully within two weeks.

When you say lose 4 mill, do you mean if the council had voted to use 4 mill of EDIT money?

  10. “New Albany told to slash 2009 budget” 9/27/09 Mr. Malysz blames the $4.8 million on “prior administrations”
“...Dan Coffey said he was “blindsided” by the news. He blames the current administration for the problem.”
Bluegill - say Malysz and Coffey apologize for their rash and venonous statements to the press upon learning of a budget shortfall?

Q: Where does that get the town? A: no where

The city still has a $1 million budget shortfall to deal with and it still has a self-interested functionally retarded local government.

  11. and while Mr Malysz is researching prior administrations lets not forget he has been an integral part of all of them back to Bob Real.

If Malysz doesnt know where the problem was then what has he been doing for the last 20 years, including 8 years with Doug england in the 1990's

  12. Bring services back in house and quit paying expensive contractor fees that are sticking it to the City and the taxpayers.
