New Albany is a state of mind … but whose? Since 2004, we’ve been observing the contemporary scene in this slowly awakening old river town. If it’s true that a pre-digital stopped clock is right twice a day, when will New Albany learn to tell time?

Open thread: Remuneration in the news.
It's time for the annual Tribune listing of top pay. Enjoy, and discuss if the spirit moves you.
While this is decent information, it is of limited use. Without knowing the actual hours of overtime, it's impossible to compare to other cities and/or industries.
What I think would be more useful would be the base pay of, say, a rookie officer/fireperson, a 5 year and a 20 year. Much easier to compare apples to apples that way.
i still would like to know how the fire department is allowed to age discriminate, by hiding behind the "prf" <---spell?...
at 38, i can run circles around the kiddos trying out for the fire department, have 8 years of damage control experience via the navy and a bachelors degree and yet, they tell me i'm too old due to this pension document they hide behind.

Perhaps New Albany and Floyd County could pass e-transparency legislation, like Louisville just did.
ReplyDeleteJust a heads up Mayor England will be on State of Affairs on 89.3 today at 1!
ReplyDeleteIf I pledge, will they keep him?
ReplyDeleteListening to England, Galligan and Isgrigg, wondering if they carpooled to WFPL studios. Did they ride TARC?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Mr. England had his personal valet, Carl, drive him over...
ReplyDeleteoh wow...what a show....
