Final Primary Candidates: Kochert bids adieu, Erika files for two

"On the final day of city-election filings, the ranks of candidates swelled from 29 to 40, but none of the last-minute registrants was City Council President Larry Kochert."

The rest of Eric Scott Campbell's Tribune report is here, with more coverage promised tomorrow.

A full .pdf candidate list is provided here, courtesy of the Floyd County Clerk’s office.

Hyperlinks below are for candidate websites, when known. We’re happy to accept updates as new websites come into being.

Otherwise, we can't wait for the plagiarized campaign speeches.

  2. Alas, I weep at the absence of Kochert at the helm of the 4th.
Time to get fired up for the fall Mr. Alton!!

  3. I am told that Mr. Beardsley has withdrawn his candidacy for the at-large post. Second-hand, but from the "horse's mouth."

  4. Reader's will notice that the listing for Pete Lyons, Republican candidate for the 2nd distict council seat, has been updated with a hyperlink to his new blog.

Disclosure: I know Pete from the occasional crossing of our business paths but have never spoken with him about local issues. I found his blog URL in a comment at View from the Highway and added it here for convenience.

If anyone has any other links to candidates, please let me know and I'll add them.

  5. All4Word's tip was correct. The County Clerk's list now shows Eli Beardsley as having withdrawn. The list has been updated to reflect that.

  6. Heres all Skinny I know about Tonye Rutherford who is running on the republican ticket for at large:
I think he is a deacon at Emanus Road Church on McDonald Avenue, and that his regular job is at printing in time on grant line road.
I have only spoken with him a couple of times, the first of which was at the BZA meeting for the attempted special exception for FCSWD to store hazmat on the old hoosier panel property.
He seemed very concerned about that, and was able to convey his message regarding that in a clear, concise manner, directly to the point.
Outside of that, I can only say that I am truly familiar with a few other candidates, of course Jack Messer, and Randy Hubbard from my fathers days on the PD, as well as my stint as an Auxiliary Officer, and Valla Ann from when my wife was helping her out as a Chef for her.
Wide feild, and should be interesting, I really look forward to the meet your candidates next thursday evening.
