Is rock and roll dead?

New Labour's passive consumers, Coldplay as Enya, the Manics' impending "Achtung Baby" moment ... it's such a delight when musicians are capable of thinking and speaking, as well as playing.

Also in the Guardian, Jarvis Cocker provides his views on the changing state of music, as in this description of product pricing: "It's a good picture of what capitalism does. They find a formula that kills off the thing they're trying to make money out of."
