I'm too busy to care very much, but for the masochists among you ...

... there's a city council meeting tonight. I plan on attending, assuming I complete 326 other tasks today and get the Volvo back from the shop on time.

The council's agenda is here, except that it's from May 3, the most recent one posted as of this morning.

A Tribune preview here focuses on the stormwater masterplan.

Freedom to Pseudonymously Screech applauds the next pre-ordained Steve Price "no" vote here, in what has become almost as retro-erotic as ordinary asphyxiation.

Speaking of Their Man Steve, last Friday in his column, Matt Nash prepared four our forth- and never-coming "da bait" with the Uncouncilman here.

For anyone who noted the death threat made to a city councilman over the sewer rate increase, you'll be interested to learn that the first death threat is free! According to an investigator in the Prosecutor's office, "if there was only one threat and nothing happened, there is nothing we can do." I can't tell you how comforting it is to know that there are no legal consequences until "something happens".
So, whoever is out there counting the days, can stop now.

Ruthanne - I'm not surprised.

One pitch black night, I was driving down Spring Street and saw a young boy sitting in the middle of the street, videotaping his friends as they skateboarded down St. Mark's steps into the street. I stopped, concerned, and asked the young man why he was in the middle of the street, sitting cross-legged.

His answer? "I'm making movies!" He said he wouldn't move, claiming "They'll drive around me!"

I called 911, got the police dispatcher, who said "There's no law against sitting in the middle of the street. What do you want us to do about it?"

The old joke "that's how you clean up the gene pool" pales in comparison to the anguish of a family when their son has been run over by a car.

It almost makes you feel crazy when those around you act like nothing's wrong.

"...if there was only one threat and nothing happened, there is nothing we can do..." Really?
