The theatair strikes back.

I don't get the first one at all.

I wonder:

How many hungry people theatair fed...

I wonder how many homeless people theatair found shelter for...

I wonder how much clothing theatair gave away to those in need....

I wonder how many blankets theatair gave to those who were cold...

Rock is not a church and most churches are busily doing more important things than worrying about theatair.

I don’t get it either.

I’ve never been to Theatair X or II Horseshoes. I would be angry if a strip club opened across the street from my house. However, X’s neighbors came to the vicinity after the club was business and II Horseshoes from what I understand has no neighbors. It’s not the neighbors complaining.

In college, I once ended up at a party of a friend’s roommate’s friend. Once there, I learned that the roommate’s friend was a DJ at a strip club and there were able five (clothed) strippers present. While I’m a personal fan of breasts, I was repulsed by the strippers’ lives. From personal observation, and from comments of other partiers, I surmised that while one was a school teacher, most were uneducated, single mothers with major drug problems. “Dancing” was an mainly economic decision for them.

If either establishment vanished tomorrow, I would only know if from reading this blog. Both frequent patronizing strip clubs and sending out newsletters referencing “s*x” speak to unhealthy attitudes about sex. I could care less about the strip clubs or ROCK because neither is relevant to me. If ROCK and the time wasting public officials who cater to ROCK treat a symptom, then lets all spend a lot of money on attorneys to ban the clubs.

Instead of treating the symptom, I’d rather ROCK and the public officials take a hard look at the difficult problems that cause the symptoms. Offer programs that help single mothers obtain educations and better paying jobs. Promote realistic sex education programs that work and don’t focus solely on abstinence. Fund drug treatment centers instead of trying to zone away methadone clinics.

What Theatair X is referring to is the amount of money the Catholic Church gave out in settlements for the sexual abuse scandals.

You can verify that by giving them a call.

Their mistake lies in affiliating ROCK with the Catholic Church.

Ah, I understand. It's also a mistake in connecting them with a lot of other churches as well.

I doubt Theatair X does much for the homeless & hungry, but I have it on good authority that they do a lot to support single moms.

I also wonder if the reason a question mark wasn't used on the marquee is because one wasn't available, or the person putting up the letters just didn't know proper punctuation?

If I'm not mistaken, ROCK was founded by people associated with Southeast Christian Church. But as far as I can tell, they're an independent organization.
