Yep.

The Courier Journal's take: Democrat overcomes ex-sheriff's criticisms, by Dick Kaukas.

For further commentary: NA Shadow Council's Democrats Earn First At-Bat.

Preliminary doodlings indicate that the Coffey contagion may finally have been isolated. Of course, that's after a bunch o'Electors.

Overall ... a good outcome.

More later.

Consider this an open thread to discuss election results.

the "Gang of Four" is now the Gang of Two? They might provide comic relief, nothing more, if we're lucky. 7(seven?) rational responsible council people will hopefully be enough to move things forward for a change. I sense many more hilarious postings from New Albanian as we go forward.

Justified or not, there seems to be a view (a wish?) that Price may become less nonsensical now that he's been stripped of the Gang's other half. Not sure if I believe it, but there it is.

I truly feel for the people of the 3rd district. Roger, you live in the wrong neighborhood. Can you relate to anyone there? How could anyone in their right mind re-elect Steve Price? Typical I guess.

Could a vote for Price have been a vote against Sharlow?

I think it is people that have given up hope. Hope for the future. They see absolutely no chance for their lot in life improving and certain people play to that, instead of leading and finding ways to show that things can get better.

Of course, there are those who vote people like him into office, just so that can "control" him. Really, it is the same scenario. The feeling of no control over their own life.

iamhoosier - you make an interesting point. I will ponder the notion of powerlessness and who and why Steve Price has been re-elected. I'd had a hard time understanding what the appeal in standing fore-square against progress was. But if you're at the bottom of the food-chain in the 3rd District, being oppositional may be all you feel you can "contribute"... just a thought but thanks for suggesting it.

After the slanderous release of information regarding the Scharlow's at the last minute, I am quite sure it got to the "right people" who then spread the word.
The insinuation that family is behind ownership of the porno hut on main, and that they intentially endanger school children by having the audacity to blacktop over a crumbling, broken side walk, only to serve as lure to attract children to run out in main street traffic....
That alone, when it hit the rumor mill probably cost a significant number of votes.
And personally, I find that sickening. It would appear that there are a couple of individuals on main who were responsible for this whole thing, and more than likely NOT who people would suspect.
But for the third district, because of a couple of peoples personal problems with the scharlow family, well....Steve is the PRICE you will have to pay for 4 more years, and in the process moer stalling, and showboating in the council keeping that wickedly horrible progression at bay.
Just sickening.

Chris, you hit the nail on the head.

"Two" doesn't make them a "gang"...but more of a nuisance.

Let's not forget party loyalty and personal identity. There are plenty of people who wouldnt vote for the Second Coming if it meant crossing party lines, and who have repeatedly voted for candidates dumber than a Popeye punch-me bag to stay within the party.

And that's the biggest joke when the parties in NA, and all of So IN are indistinguishable from one another.

actually, I think Roger lives in a pretty kick a** neighborhood with a wonderfully active neighborhood association. Of course I could be biased...
