Corn on the 3rd of July?

Mrs. Confidential and I made a belated appearance this evening at the official New Albany 4th of July celebration at the venerable Trinkle Dome on the riverfront.

The fireworks were far better than I expected, the music was loud enough to be heard on Spring Street, the overall church supper ambience a fitting testament to booking agent Bob "Stone Deaf Band" Trinkle’s formica-clad genius for the lowest common denominator, and the obligatory rendering of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” depressing beyond the ability of mere words to convey.

Did I mention that the fireworks were good?

Who said Tim and I can't find common ground?

It's easy to imagine a varied summer series of music at the Dome, but not as long as Bobbo is in charge.

Sorry guys but I enjoyed the bands, they were a considerable improvement over the blugrass crap of the former administration.

I do remember when England was in power we had true rock and rollers from the 60's such as The Turtles, Gary Pucket and the Union Gap, Eric Burden and the Animals, Mark Lindsy of Paul Revere and the Raiders.

Finally, when Bob Trinkle asked all the veterans to come forward, I was proud to walk down to the stage, around me gathered men of all ages that fought in many different wars.

True the fireworks were good, the music along with them sucked, would like to have had more Sousa marches than Star Wars, but what the hey!

But the highlight of the night for me was at the end, a young girl came up to me and gave me a hug and said "Thank you for protecting our freedoms!" That brought a tear to my eye!

I look forward to Woodstock on the River over the Labor Day Weekend, ought be a hoot!

I wouldn't think to disparage your experience as veteran, regretting that utter crap like "God Bless the USA" now suffices for respect in this context.

Good call on the Sousa ...

Now that I read your link to Lee Greenwood, do you think he got a royalty check for last night?

I sat and chatted with our beloved councilwoman last night prior to the fireworks. We discussed many issues about the past few months of council meetings. We talked about the one meeting where it was brought up that she could be making a profit off the many subdivisons that comes before the council. I wonder if anyone thought about the fact that Councilman Seabrook could make a minimum of Ten Grand off anyone in the room that fell over dead!

Rick I thought you gave up on the Pink Blog page? If you have, there is someone posing as you.

Nah Ed, it is me, as long as it remains civilized, I figure I may as well throw my two cents in!

I do have to admit the week Laura was gone it went to hell in a hand basket!

Thanks for asking.
